Hydrocephalus treatment. Coloured axial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan through the brain of a 24-year-old man who has been treated for hydrocephalus. Also known also as 'water on the brain', hydrocephalus is an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain. Here, the fluid is being drained by a ventricular lead (orange) that has been implanted from the central ventricles to the external surface (lower left).
