The several lines The new lines will not only give the nearby farming set-tlements direct communication with Milwaukee, hut theywill afford Milwaukee and Chicago people a convenientmeans of reaching some of the most attractive spots of amost picturesque and romantic region. The territory for50 miles or more west and southwest of the city particularlyis indeed picturesque. The region is oflakes often of several miles area, irregularly-formed hills andfertile farming lands. The portionaround Waukesha is most widely knownfor its mineral water, which is rich inmagnesia and has other valuable medi-cinal properties. During the ColumbianExposition at Chicago this water waspiped to the Exposition grounds, about90 miles distant. The country, moreover, is rich inIndian lore, and evidences of
