Scientist injecting influenza virus (family Orthomyxoviridae) into fertilised chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) eggs. Following injection, the viruses grow and multiply within the chicken cells. This is a common means of growing influenza viruses, which is done for multiple purposes, including flu vaccine production.
