A Saxon ivory book with mining scenes, circa 1720. Small "Kunstkammer" object, the covers and pages of finely carved ivory, all elements connected by iron hinges. The exterior sides of the covers with engraved ornaments, the top with two crossed club hammers. The pages and six plates carved on both sides with a total of 14 relief portraits of miners in dress uniform with various tools. Also the images of a dowser, a foreman and a musician.
