The Battle of Wilson's Creek, also known as the Battle of Oak Hills, was a major battle in the early months of the American Civil War, taking place on the 10th August 1861. The Unionist forces under Nathaniel Lyon and Samuel D. Sturgis lost to Confederates under Sterling Price and Benjamin McCulloch. General Lyon was killed during the fight. his image shows General Lyon leading a cavalry charge.
