Interior of the Ultimate Picture Palace, Oxford's only independent cinema, which has been put up for sale, with the community given the first option to buy it. The UPP has had a varied 111 year history and is now the most successful it has ever been. Credit: Martin Anderson/Alamy

In the 70s and 80s, the UPP, then called the Penultimate Picture Palace (PPP), was owned by Bill Heine, owner of the "Headington Shark" roof sculpture, and was a great student venue, with students often dancing in the aisles during films like the Rocky Horror Show and Stop Making Sense.
