Fatsia papyrifera (sometimes named Aralia papyrifera) grows from five to seven feet high; the leaves are cordate, five to seven lobed, about one foot in length and the same in width. This is the plant from which the rice paper is manufactured. It is hardy in sheltered locations around Washington, D. C, send- ing up shoots from the roots.
