The arimau-dahan, as this species is called by the Malays, is thesize of a small leopard, with a very long and thickly furred tail, andlarge upper tusks. The ground-colour of the fur varies from greyishbrown to fulvous, upon which are large dark blotches, frequentlybordered in part with black. In old specimens the blotches oftendisappear, leaving only the black —From the Sikhim and Bhutan Himalaya, through Assam, Burma, Siam, and the Malay Peninsula, to Sumatra, Java, and Borneo.
