Gall bladder stent. Endoscope view of a plastic stent (blue) holding open the gall bladder duct (common bile duct) of an 89 year-old patient. The stent was inserted due to an obstruction of the duct, which resulted from an ampullary carcinoma (cancer). The stent allows the normal passage of bile to the duodenum.
