Moonrise over Shark Point

Moon rising over Shark Point, Clovelly, Sydney, Australia, 8:01pm, March 8th, 2012. Sometimes you get the best results when a shoot doesn’t go as planned: Originally I’d wanted to shoot the water cascading over the rocks at the point in late afternoon light, but then I didn’t get there until the sun had disappeared behind the hill, and anyway the surf was so heavy that going out to the point would have been suicidal. However, a nice opportunity presented itself to take some pictures of the moon rising from the top of the cliffs – the long exposure only hints at the violence of the sea that evening.
