A display of Nanette Lepore patterns and the finished product in New York

A display of Nanette Lepore patterns and the finished product in New York on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Made In Midtown?, at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, a multimedia exhibit highlighting the issues involved in real estate development in the Garment District and the impact the fashion industry has on the city's economy. While once a center for mass production the Garment District has become more of a center for creativity and design. A study released by the Design Trust for Public Spaces maps how space is used in the district an how the proximity between designers and manufacturers allows speedier and more cost effective production than if the clothing were made overseas.
