One specimen taken at each locality. In the foregoing species the first four segments of the abdomen are smooth. We now come to a group also resembling C. munita in general appearance, but having the abdomen in front of the fifth segment more or less carinated. CRANGON VARIABILIS Rathbun. Crangon variabilis Rathbun, Proc. U. S. Nat. Mus., xxiv, 890, 1902. The carapace is much like that of C. munita, but is nearly half as long as the abdomen. The rostrum is short, convex from behind forward and the tip rounded and thickened. The anten- nal scale has a concave outer margin and the spine equals or extends beyond the blade.
