All the machinetools are group driven in units of 30 h. p. electric motorlocated overhead. The motors are supplied with excep-tionally wide bearings and pulley faces. A few of thevery largest tools are individually driven with motors ofa size adapted to the particular machine. Before leav-ing the machine shop it may be remarked that driverremovals and replacements are carried on by use of anelectricially operated drop table, and as the stripping isdone at the same time, lye vats are located in the apart-ment which encloses the table. mm i JM ^\ *»-> \. To the boiler shop end of the building constituting tankand boiler shops has been added ,a wing at right anglesto the main building. This is a high single story struc-ture. At this end of the building a new riveting planthas been installed in the corner opposite the new addi-tion. The old machinery has been rearranged, and anumber of new machines added. Many of the new ma-chines are driven by individual electric motors. A verysatisfactory furnace installed in the new wing is illus-trated herewith by a line drawing. In this illustrationwill be observed a series of openings under the hearth infront. These are closed with loose brick and mud nor-mally, but when working the sheet the amount of heatdelivered at any portion of the sheet is controllable bythe removal of these loose bricks, and thus allowing acooling curre
