a Middle white pig

a Middle white pig A magnificent animal with a ‘puggy’ flattened face and nose and wonderful big pricked ears with an amazing feathering of hairs around the edges. Coming towards you it certainly has the look of a vampire bat. A really good natured pig that is very talkative and has character all of its own. Traditionally bred as the ‘London Pork Pig’ it still retains the qualities that produced the great pork of the past. Originally all the white pigs came from the north of England whilst the coloured pigs were always found in the South. The ‘Middle White’ is thought to have come about as the result of selected breeding with offspring from the ‘Large White’ and ‘Small White’ (now extinct). All three originated in Yorkshire and were known as the ‘Small Yorkshire’. ‘Middle Yorkshire’ and Large Yorkshire’ which is the name they are still known by in parts of Canada and America.
