He engraved the map of Connecticutpublished by William Blodgett in 1792,—anexcellent piece of work. He made book-plates, engraved seals and coats-of-arms;he painted and gilded chairs and mirrors;and, when Major Jonathan Otis, silversmith,died in 1791, he lettered his coffin. Duringthis busy career he found time to makesilver spoons and jewelry. He died in 1825. Guilford was the home of two excellentsilversmiths, Billious Ward and CaptainSamuel Parmele. Ward, the son of William Ward, who wasprobably a silversmith, was born in patens, five beakers, and a number ofspoons have been found in Connecticutmarked B. W., and doubtless made byhim. He died in Wallingford in 1777 ofsmall-pox, whither he had gone to v
