Tourist bus stopping outside the central station in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

A city tour bus outside Frankfurt main station. Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof meaning Frankfurt main station is the central station for Frankfurt. It is the busiest train station in the whole of Germany. The station opened in 1888 and has a very old-school almost victorian feel to it similar to Kings Cross in London. Unlike some other german cities, Frankfurt main station was only partially bombed during the Second World War and it is perhaps for this reason that it retains old world charm in a way that some other major German train stations don’t.
