Nylon rope. Close-up view of a nylon rope. Nylons are synthetic polymers from the polyamide series. Here small nylon fibres have been spun and then inter-woven into strands. The strands are then twisted into a rope structure in the normal way. Nylon has high tensile strength which makes it an ideal material for rope manufacture. The twisting and inter-weaving of the strand enhances the rope's tensile strength.
