North Lodge in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex was built by the late Georgian developer James Burton.

North Lodge, in the East Sussex seaside town of St Leonards on Sea, was built by the late Georgian property developer James was responsible for much of the development in the surrounding area. His buildings ranged from large houses for the well to do, an hotel, shops and artisan's homes. The lodge stands at the top end of St Leonards Gardens, the park around which Burton built his residential park. From North Lodge Burton built a toll road to join the existing London to hastings road and thus allow easier access to his development. North Lodge became the family home of his unmarried daughter Jane Wood, whose unmarried daughters Emily Jane and Helen Wood, cared for Decimus Burton in his old age. A later resident of North Lodge was the Victorian author H Rider Haggard
