In the fall of 1876, however, he gradu-ated in the business department of theNormal University at Lebanon, Ohio, andas his eyes would permit, took up some^special studies in the following year. In 1877, having the previous wintercommenced the study of Blackstone, heentered, as a student, the law office ofKeifer & White, afterwards Keifer, White& Rabbitts. General Keifer was then inhis first year in Congress. Charles afterwards became Common Pleas.
