Students from 2 in Chinatown in New York march in the annual Flag Day Parade on Friday, June 12, 2015, starting at New York City Hall Park. While the holiday is on June 14 the parade was held on the previous Friday to accommodate the schools involved. Flag Day, was created by proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson on June 14, 1916 as a holiday honoring America's flag but it was not until 1949 when it became National Flag Day. The holiday honors the 1777 Flag Resolution where the stars and stripes were officially adopted as the flag of the United States. (© Richard B. Levine)
