Her-bert, of this review; Fred, who is professor ofmathematics in the Northwestern University inChicago : and Celia, who is in school. E. Herbert Owens was a student in the highschool at Lake City, Iowa, and in the KansasUniversity at Lawrence, from which he wasgraduated in the class of 1901. He taught fora vear in Arkansas City, Kansas, being teacherof mathematics in the high school, after whichhe became professor of mathematics and sur-vevor in Penn College at Oskaloosa. In igoi Air. Owens was married to MissElizabeth Edmondson. who was liorn in Co\-ington, Kentucky, in ^S^t) and is a daughter oflames and Mary Edmondson, now living re-tired. Mr. and Mrs. Owens have two daugh-ters. P;.ulinc and Marian. Mr. Owens belongsto the l-irst Presbyterian church and his wifeto the United Presbyterian church and in poli-tics he is a republican. He has erected an at-tractive cottage on North Tenth street, where heand his wife are now living and the hospitalit}of their pleasant home is greatly enjoyed bytheir manv friends. PROFESSOR JAMES P.
