Enoughload is carried by the coil springs to prevent the diamond framefrom tilting on the short-base equalizing bar springs. There aretwo wrought-iron equalizer bars on each side of the truck, theends resting on the axle boxes. The transom, which is of channel steel, is secured to the sideframes by means of Yi-m. stiffening plates and gussets. Diagonalbraces extend from the frame to the under side of the truck bolster consists of two rolled steel plates % in. thick,separated by steel distance pieces, and is supported at either end ondouble elliptic springs on wood blocks carried on steel-platebrackets riveted to the transom. The center and side bearings,which are of cast steel, are bolted to the bolster, the center bearingbeing constructed to contain a good supply of lubricant, withmeans of renewing the same from the inside of the car body.
