Enoughload is carried by the coil springs to prevent the diamond framefrom tilting on the short-base equalizing bar springs. There aretwo wrought-iron equalizer bars on each side of the truck, theends resting on the axle boxes. A horizontaltie-bar is carried along the truck and secured to the under side ofthe pedestals. The transom, which is of channel steel, is secured to the sideframes by means of Yi-m. stiffening plates and gussets. Diagonalbraces extend from the frame to the under side of the truck bolster consists of two rolled steel plates % in. thick,separated by steel distance pieces, and is supported at either end ondouble elliptic springs on wood blocks carried on steel-platebrackets riveted to the transom. The center and side bearings,which are of cast steel, are bolted to the bolster, the center bearingbeing constructed to contain a good supply of lubricant, withmeans of renewing the same from the inside of the car body.
