It has a 35-foot roadway, and twosidewalks 8 feet wide each, making a total width of52 feet, a clear length between abutments of 1,068feet, and a total length of 1,341 feet. It was com-menced in 1889, and completed in 1908. The mainarches are hingeless with no reinforcing, but thespandrel arches have steel reinforcement. As thebridge is located in a fine residential district, itsaesthetic appearance was a matter of considerableimportance. The face rings of the arch, pier cor-ners, mouldings and all trimmings below the granitecoping, are moulded concrete blocks.
