A DOUBLE boiler explosion of extreme violence occurred at theplant of the Loreauville Sugar Company, Loreauville, 21, 1923, causing a property loss of $47,000. Twelve-persons were killed and twenty-three injured. Whole boilers andparts of boilers sailed around in the air and caused widespread damage,some idea of which may be obtained from the accompanying Boiler Explosion at Loreauville, La. The large property loss is due to the expensive type of some of theapparatus damaged, since the buildings contained large cast ironevaporators and other costly machinery. The cause of a boiler explosion can generally be determined In-examining the wrecked boiler and questioning the persons who werein or near the boiler room at the time. In this case, the persons whomight have been able to tell what had been done were killed.
