The anaesthetist is using an endoscope, a long tube with a camera and a light source, that is used to look inside the body. The anaesthetist is responsible for administering drugs, anaesthetics (via tubes), that prevent the patient from feeling any pain or discomfort during the operation. She also monitors the patient's vital signs, such as breathing, pulse and blood pressure.
