Cluster of 11 elite men marathon runners as they crossed the State Street Bridge at the 2017 Chicago Marathon. Among the group were eventual winner Galen Rupp (fifth from left) of the United States and runner up Abel Kirui of Kenya (second from right). Also in the grouping, from left, Chris Derrick (United States, finished ninth), Diego Estrada (United States, 16th), Ezekiel Chebii (Kenya, seventh), Rupp, Zersenay Tadese (Eritrea, eighth), Emmanuel Bett (Kenya, did not finish (DNF)), Dennis Kimetto (Kenya, DNF), Kirui and Stanley Biwott (Kenya, DNF). The Chicago Marathon is one of the world's six major marathon events annually joining the Boston, London, Berlin Tokyo and New York races. The 2017 running was the 40th anniversary event.
