The Cairngorms consist of a plateau, the highest in the British Isles, and glacial mountains. The highest point is at 1310 metres above sea level. The mountains are contained within the Cairngorms National Park, which was created in 2003. Four of the five highest Scottish mountains are within the Cairngorms.
