It grows equally well in moist or dry soils, and is a beautiful native plant. $ M. macropliylla. Great-leaved Magnolia. B. Makes a tree of good size. Its leaves are immense in growth. Its flowers, the largest of any flowering American tree, are produced in June, and are white and fragrant. A very tropical-looking tree, but seldom established in New England. $ M. tripetala. Umbrella Tree. B. Of medium size, with immense leaves, and white flowers nearly 6 ins. across. Flowers in June. Entirely hardy and vigorous. 50 cents to $ JAPAN AND CHINA MAGNOLIAS.
