ATLANTIC OCEAN (Dec. 7, 2016) – GySgt. Franklin D. Bowersox, a native of Sarasota, Fla. leads a rifle detail practice in the hangar bay of amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) in preparation for a burial at sea ceremony. Iwo Jima is underway pursuing mobility-engineering (MOB-E) and mobility-seaman (MOB-S) certifications as part of the ship’s pre-deployment qualification process.
