Wood mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus) feeding on hoarded berries and nuts. This small rodent is common throughout Europe. Although its natural habitat is in woodland, it is highly adaptable and is now found in a wide variety of habitats. It digs a system of tunnels in which to live, and stores food there for the winter. The wood mouse feeds on berries, nuts, seedlings and fungi. It can reach a length of around ten centimetres, excluding the tail.
