Stanley, ofLincoln, Neb., and Libbie, wife of Random Brown-ing, a merchant of Rome, Frederick B. Jewett was born August 5, 1848,on the farm where he is now living, and was therereared to manhood, acquiring a good practical edu-cation in the select schools. He also obtained agood knowledge of business methods under the abledirection of his father, whom he assisted in thefarm work and other enterprises. He succeededhis father as president of the Susquehanna CountyAgricultural Works at Montrose, in 1877, filling thatposition in a most creditable and acceptable man-ner until the company passed out of existence, in1885. In the latter year he returned to the oldhomestead, and has since given his attention princi-pally to farming. His home farm comprises 600acres of va
