Francois Huber. Historical portrait of Swiss naturalist Francois Huber (1750-1831). He is predominantly known for developing the practice of apiculture, or bee-keeping. Over a period of 50 years, he designed and constructed beehives and scientifically observed the behaviour of bees. His work laid the foundations for modern apiculture. He published his Observations on the Honeybee in 1792.
