(Creeping Dog's-tooth grass) is the only British species, is a low, prostrate^rass, with long, tough runners and short, tiat, glaucous leaves, drstinguished from all other British grasses, except Digit'dria sanguindlis and D. linearis, by the digitate arrangement Qj-*t^e - - slender, purplish spikes in its panicle, each of which ij J I-i in. long, and from those two species by having its aw-n- less spikclets arranged singly, not in pairs, along the spikes.— Sandy pastures by" the sea in the south-western counties : verv.
