Little Foot skull. Artwork of the skull of the Australopithecus hominin fossil catalogued as Stw 573, and known colloquially as Little Foot. It has been dated to to million years ago. The skull fragments for this individual were found in 1994 following the earlier discovery of foot bones. The fossils were found in Sterkfontein, South Africa. There are several Australopithecus species, all now extinct but forming an early part of the human evolutionary tree.
