This is the true Lotus of Egypt, and is one of the loveliest of the Water Lilies. The flowers, when just ex- panding, are of a beautiful rosy pink color; when open, they are of a creamy white and pink, and are very fragant. They open in the morning and close in the afternoon It is a very interesting plant, and has been an immense success every- where Strong roots, $1 50. Luteum (American Lotus). Though a native of this coun- try, it is not common. There is scarcely any difference be- tween this and N Speciosum, except in the c>lor of the flow- ers, which are of a rich sulphur, yellow.
