They are of fresh water or land origin 6. Even if these gravels do not yield ar-tesian water, they form a great natural reservoirbeneath the valley. 7. There is no great thickness of gravelsalong the northern margin of the valley. No Outlet by Way of San Ramon. The possibility has been suggested of an under-ground outlet for the waters of the LivermoreValley northward by way of the San RamonValley. I know of no good grounds for this Niles Canyon through which the drainageof the Livermore Valley escapes has been cutdown by the stream flowing through it.
