Channel Islands, satellite image. North is at top. Water is blue, vegetation is green and urbanised areas are pale brown. The Channel Islands are a group of British crown dependent islands off the coast of France (right and bottom), in the English Channel. The islands and islets are grouped together under the administration of the balliwick of Jersey and the balliwick of Guernsey. The two largest islands are Jersey (centre) and Guernsey (upper right). Next to Guernsey is Herm to the north and Sark to the south, both populated islands, The other inhabited island is Alderney (top).
