Nataraja on the back of Apasmara
Four-armed Nataraja, an aspect of Shiva, stands on the back of Apasmara with his right foot. In his upper right hand is the damaru (hourglass shaped drum), in his upper left the fire, his lower right hand is in abhaya mudra and his lower left points down towards Apasmara. In his matted hair is the goddess Ganga, and the crescent moon rests on one of his dreadlocks, which has loosened in the frenzy of the dance. Near his right shoulder a cobra rears its fierce head. Apasmara has a blue complexion, and is armed with sword and buckler.
