Club foot (talipes) with callus formation in a 72 year old man. Club foot is a congenital deformity in which the patient cannot stand with the sole of the foot flat on the ground. The defect can usually be corrected by orthopaedic splinting in the early months of infancy. Uncorrected, the foot may adapt by forming calluses. A callus (or callosity) is a toughened area of skin that has become relatively thick and hard in response to repeated friction, pressure, or other irritation.
