Sperm bank. Medical worker handling frozen sperm at a sperm bank. The face shield protects the worker from the dangers of cold glassware shattering. Sperm is preserved by freezing it by using liquid nitrogen, which exists at a temperature of minus 196 degrees Celsius. The sperm is then warmed back to room temperature when needed for in vitro fertilisation (IVF) techniques.
