The Walney Offshore Wind farm project is located 15km off Barrow in Furness in Cumbria, UK. The project consists of Walney 1 and Walney 2 each with 51 turbines. It has 102 MW turbines, giving a total capacity of the Walney project of MW, enough to power 320,000 homes. The rotor diameter of the turbines is 107m for Walney 1 and 120 m for Walney 2. The wind farm is owned and constructed by Dong Energy. This shot shows the yellow transition pieces, that fit onto the monopile, that holds the structure to the sea bed. The tower and turbine is then fixed onto the transition piece.
