High values of particulate matter were detected in the surface and subsurface waters between the continental slope and St. Matthew Island areas, while low values were observed between St. Matthew Island and the Bering Strait. Slightly higher values than in the Bering Strait were again observed in the Chukchi Sea. Almost identical distribution profiles were obtained for particulate organic carbon and chlorophyll a. More.
