One of the triple tiered brick piers of Hownsgill viaduct near Consett, Co. Durham, England, UK


Hownsgill viaduct was built by the Stockton and Darlington railway company being completed in 1858. The engineer was Thomas Bouch, with Robert Stephenson as a consultant. It now carries a public path, the Waskerley Way, part of the coast to coast cycle route.
