It is a mostnatural food for cows and sheep, its stalksbeing eaten by them in a greedy manner,and the grain is a superior food for fowls ; asgood as wheat or barley for horses. It is ofeasy and simple culture, and when grownfor grain should be planted in hills the sameas Indian Corn. It has yielded 200 bushelsof cleaned grain per acre. When grown forfodder, sow in drills from 2 to 3 feet apart;and bear in mind that it is of the utmostvalue because of its certainty to produceheavy crops on poor, dry soil.
