SAN DIEGO (May 19, 2017) Commanding Officer Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), Capt. Joel A. Roos, introduces guest speaker Rear Adm. Paul D. Pearigen, Commander, Navy Medicine West and chief of the Navy Medical Corps, during NMCSD’s centennial ceremony. The ceremony was held to celebrate NMCSD’s 100th birthday. The Navy’s first permanent medical facility in San Diego was established in Balboa Park on May 20, 1917.
