This surpassed the climate demonstration of two-years-ago which had 45,000 participants. The demonstrators walked a route from Dam Square to the Museumplein. On their route they joined a large pro-Palestinian march. Among the marchers was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, she later gave a short speech on the Museumplein. The march was organized by nine organizations, under the name Climate Crisis Coalition, this including Extinction Rebellion, Greenpeace, Oxfam Novib, and the trade union FNV. Also demonstrating was a feminist block, a children’s block, an agricultural block, a vegan block, an anti-racism block and a block for sustainable fashion. The climate themes that were highlighted included the phasing out of Government fossil subsidies and a mandatory climate plan for polluting companies.
