The chief summer home ofthese birds is supposed to be on the islandsnorth of the American continent, andmost, if not all of them, pass the winter inthe marshes of Louisiana. I know of nocase heretofore where they have beenphotographed in large numbers at closerange. The accompanying illustrations wereall made by Mr. Job on this expedition, and will give some idea of the results ofhis skill and patience in the use of amoving-picture PHOTOGRAPHED FROM THE WINDOW OF A CABIN ONTHE WARD-McILHENNY RESERVATION
