I failed from Breft Road on the ift of Auguft. Nothing interefting occurred during the run to Madeira, where we anchored on the 13th. The wind had been conftantly fair, a circumftance high- ly neceffary to (hips which, being too much by the head, fteered very ill. M. De Lamenon ob- ferved the luminous particles in the fta water, which, in my opinion, proceed from the diflblu- tion of marine bodies.
