Aspartate transcarbamylase. Computer model showing the structure of aspartate transcarbamylase with catalytic subunits in grey-red, regulatory subunit

Aspartate transcarbamylase. Computer model showing the structure of aspartate transcarbamylase with catalytic subunits in grey-red, regulatory subunits in green and CTP, a nucleotide with a pyrimidine ring, in orange. Aspartate transcarbamylase (ATCase) performs an early step in the production of pyrimidine rings, which are used to build nucleotides in DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid).
