March 30, 2018 - Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, United States - Wooden nails called trunnels are seen protruding from the futtocks, or curved riblike timbers of a shipwreck that was discovered on March 28, 2018 after having washed ashore on Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida. A team from the St. Augustine Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program is examining and measuring the 48-foot-long wooden remains which are believed to have come from a merchant ship that transported cargo along the Atlantic coast of the during the early to mid 1800s.
